The
Sidewalk Astronomers take telescopes to public spaces to share the wonders of the galaxy with the masses. Here are some pictures I took of a sidewalk astronomy gathering at
Deukmejian Wilderness Park last Saturday. I had never been to Deukmejian before and really enjoyed the event and ranger-led fitness hike. To get to the park, I had to drive 10 miles on surface streets - entirely within Glendale! Our city really is surprisingly large.

The historic Le Mesnager Barn.

The vineyard in front of the barn.

The astronomers set up their mostly homemade telescopes.

Snacks were generously provided - Sun Chips, Starburst, Eclipse gum, Tang, and Moon Pies.

Upcoming sidewalk astronomy events will be listed on the group's
website and mailing list.
