Whiskey, Banking And The Masons

Today I noticed the juxtaposition of two faded advertisements on the side of the former Masonic Temple building (PDF) at 234 S. Brand Blvd:

"California Bank: DEPENDABLE - CONSERVATIVE"
"KESSLER: BLENDED WHISKEY. SMOOTH."

Here's a snap of the front of the imposing structure, which was designed in 1928 by Arthur G. Lindley. Lindley's firm was also responsible for designing the Alex Theatre and the Hotel Glendale (PDF) at the northeast corner of Broadway & Glendale Ave.

good eye catching the slogans! Have you ever been inside the building...I wonder if the ground floor is amazing?

I haven't been inside. A Noise Within theater company is located inside the building now, but I've never made it to one of their productions.

Go now. A Noise Within is tragically relocating to Pasadena.
