- Public access to the pools at Hoover High and Glendale High will be allowed for approximately 3 hours a day between June 30th-August 22nd. $2 adult admission. Glendale Aquatics brochure (PDF).
- Burbank's pools at McCambridge and Verdugo Parks are open for recreation swimming. Admission is a whopping $10 for non-residents! Burbank residents are $4.
- Your best bet, beyond cozying up to pool-owning friends, is one of the City of L.A.'s many pools. The Griffith Park Pool at Los Feliz Blvd & Riverside drive opened yesterday. Adults are $2.50, or $2.00 with a library card. Kids and seniors are free. Thanks, City of L.A.!

Local Swimming Pool Options
Today it was over 104 degrees here. Glendale residents trying to stay cool are hampered by the fact that Glendale hasn't had a proper community swimming pool since the Verdugo Swim Stadium was demolished in 1988. There is a proposal to add a pool to Pacific Park, but that would come far too late for this summer's heat waves. In the meantime, here are some aquatic options.

Thanks for the info, Scott. I went to the Verdugo pool today. It's a great place to get in a few laps and cool off in this ridiculous weather. I didn't encounter one screaming child, and that's always nice.
I was prepared to pay the $10 admission but it was free....maybe because of the heatwave?
Wow, that's great. The L.A. pools are always packed with screaming kids.
I called the Verdugo pool today and they are back to $10 for non-residents. D'oh!
The Glendale YWCA just reopend their pool. They are across the street from Whole Foods AND you don't need to become a member AND you are supporting the YWCA.
