New Responsibility For Jorge Acevedo

I was very happy to see in this morning's Glendale News-Press that Glendale Police Department super-volunteer Jorge Acevedo has a new responsibility:

Acevedo, a volunteer of four years at the Glendale Police Department, has been appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to head up the city’s Disabled Access Process Appeals Commission until June 2013.

He welcomes the appointment with great joy, since he has been fighting for disabled persons’ rights for many years.

“I want people to see the person, not the disability,” he said.

The rest of the story is here. Jorge was a member of the Glendale Police Department Citizen's Academy class I recently participated in and was buddies with everyone in the class by the end of the second night. He could probably charm Al Qaeda if given the opportunity.
