Today it was over 104 degrees here. Glendale residents trying to stay cool are hampered by the fact that Glendale hasn't had a proper community swimming pool since the Verdugo Swim Stadium was demolished in 1988. There is a proposal to add a pool to Pacific Park, but that would come far too late for this summer's heat waves. In the meantime, here are some aquatic options.- Public access to the pools at Hoover High and Glendale High will be allowed for approximately 3 hours a day between June 30th-August 22nd. $2 adult admission. - Burbank's pools at McCambridge and Verdugo Parks are open for recreation swimming. Admission is a whopping $10 for non-residents! Burbank residents are $4.
- Your best bet, beyond cozying up to pool-owning friends, is one of the City of L.A.'s many pools. The Griffith Park Pool at Los Feliz Blvd & Riverside drive opened yesterday. Adults are $2.50, or $2.00 with a library card. Kids and seniors are free. Thanks, City of L.A.!
