We got there moments before and decided to sit by the window so we could watch the people outside. Moments later we heard an amazingly loud crash. Then a very loud rumble was coming our way. In the corner of my eye I could see things flying every which way and the SUV barreling our way. The impact of the SUV with the bus stop, the tree, and the building was deafening and shook the whole place. We quick had to jump up and run out of the way because we figured the SUV or the tree was going to smash into the window and injure us pretty badly. The table outside was completely smashed. The waiter told us he was going to sit us out there to generate business. Thank God we didn't. The glass window at the restaurant did not break but the force of the tree impact knocked the table next to us over and shattered glass everywhere. We went outside and also noticed a man on the sidewalk on the ground in serious pain. At first I thought he was thrown from the vehicle but he didn't seem to be cut in any way. I believe he was on the sidewalk and was hit by this SUV. All I know is that the SUV was going very fast, possibly trying to beat a light or something. It should not have been going that fast and it really annihilated everything on that sidewalk. I really thought I could have died.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847904405428185680.post-78121219182206145072008-10-20T17:28:00.000-07:002008-10-20T17:28:00.000-07:00Sergeant Lorenz's e-mail address is TLorenz@ci.gle...Sergeant Lorenz's e-mail address is TLorenz@ci.glendale.ca.us. If you look at my first post with the pictures, you can see the Rav-4's Toyota logo lying on the ground. I did not mean to suggest in my diagram that the left turning car wasn't in the left-turn lane, that was just an oversight on my part. I'll update the diagram to correct that.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01395219854435584426noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847904405428185680.post-74096908951507217792008-10-20T16:53:00.000-07:002008-10-20T16:53:00.000-07:00Yes.. it was VERY scary. You make it look like that car that was turning left was not in the left turn lane-- whether that has any bearing as to what happened, I'm not sure.

I wonder how fast the SB vehicle was going to have skidded as far as it did. .Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847904405428185680.post-39451630958761383102008-10-20T16:42:00.000-07:002008-10-20T16:42:00.000-07:00Hi, I just came across you blog while searching fo...Hi, I just came across you blog while searching for any info. I witnessed the whole entire accident! It was the scariest thing ever and I am horribly traumatized. The toyota rav 4 heading southbound was driving at least 50 mph when he hit the left turn car at the intersection!!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw him take off at the same stoplight we were both at 2 blocks up. I hope the driver goes to jail or is punished somehow... It was so strange because I noticed his reckless driving when he approached next to me at the stoplight, and I had this sick feeling he was going to accelerate full speed... I still can't believe it!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847904405428185680.post-73004947506492412302008-10-20T15:50:00.000-07:002008-10-20T15:50:00.000-07:00Wow, that must've been scary. I walked by the scene today at lunch (amazingly, the tree and bus stop were already gone) and tried to visualize what happened. You can see the skid marks leading very clearly from the middle of the intersection.

Did you see which way the sidewalk car was facing when it finally stopped? I was trying to figure out how it could've damaged El Morfi AND Aoba the way it did and wondered if perhaps the car spun around backwards (facing north).Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01395219854435584426noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847904405428185680.post-7687440691946063932008-10-20T15:39:00.000-07:002008-10-20T15:39:00.000-07:00interesting. i'm asking because i was at el morfi...interesting. i'm asking because i was at el morfi at the time of the crash, and was wondering who was in the car that crashed into the sidewalk..Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847904405428185680.post-86246281578882350542008-10-20T15:13:00.000-07:002008-10-20T15:13:00.000-07:00I directly contacted Sgt.
